With the current
national health care staffing shortage, many types of supplemental
staffing companies have emerged. Unfortunately, while attempting
to help, this has:
- further fragmented the diminishing
health care workforce
- added significant administrative overhead
- compromised patient care quality as
competitive pressures have, oftentimes, diminished quality
assurance standards
- driven costs higher for many hospitals
nationwide
With an expected general
increase in demand for health care services, the largest
aging population in U.S. history, a smaller age cohort from
whom to draw in the future and other, more attractive opportunities
available to the traditional clinical talent pool, this
trend of escalating costs/deteriorating quality is expected
to increase significantly through 2020.
The American HealthCare Services Association (AHSA) exists to create and maintain significant
efficiencies across the entire supplemental health care
staffing process.
By "outsourcing"
the cumbersome staffing process to AHSA, member hospitals
are able to:
- greatly reduce the administrative
burden associated with agency negotiation, contracting,
and direct coordination
- improve the quality of staff utilized
through our vendor selection process and ongoing audit
process
- reduce total staffing costs through the utilization of our multi-facility “purchasing power”
- reduce vacancy rates by tapping
into our multi-billion dollar network of top national
staffing agencies
- save a tremendous amount of time
and effort via standardized staffing and invoicing processes
Our staffing providers benefit
by:
- gaining access to a growing list of
top health care systems via a single staffing agreement
with AHSA
- realizing significant efficiencies
through standardized processes that make servicing our
members more simple and cost effective
- receiving increasing rewards as level
of individual staffing provider service grows
